I’ve been involved in the life sciences training industry for over 23 years. And one of the things I’ve noticed is that often, we don’t do an optimal job training….our trainers.
Something about that seems a little contradictory, doesn’t it? We develop reps, managers, leaders…how about our trainers and training managers? Well, there are reasons for it!
Here’s the biggest stumbling block I’ve seen – that trainers are so immersed in the day-to-day tactical demands of their roles, that there is very little time or opportunity to pump the brakes for a little while and impart new skills. New hire classes. Launches. POA meetings. Sound familiar?
That’s why I’ve taken my Communicating with Impact workshops (which are designed specifically for upskilling those in a training manager role) and arranged them into a series of convenient, configurable sessions. The goal is to provide a year’s worth of development for trainers in the most vital corporate competencies they can acquire (what is most vital? Here’s what you said in a recent survey). The main topics and sub-topics are these:

- Effective writing (including email)
- Effective presenting
- Collaborating with Clarity (how do we get teams on the same page?)

- Effective live and on-line (esp. LinkedIn) networking tactics

All of these workshops are based on the core principles of communications Clarity outlined in my book, Clarity Wins.
What my clients value is that we can customize a year-long package of sessions customized to the audience – not only by topic, but also by presentation format (lunch-and-learn, half-day, full-day). Of course, if you just need one or two solo workshop sessions on specific topics, that is always available. In addition, some of the core Clarity principles (like addressing the Reticular Activating system, the key to ALL effective communications) can be covered via webinar to make the experience even more efficient, and to bring new hires up to speed quickly during the year.
