If I say or write something to you in my (and your) native language, I naturally expect that we have communicated. Seems reasonable, right?
George Bernard Shaw would beg to differ.

You can think of endless examples from your own experience when you THOUGHT communication had taken place, but it really hadn’t. Words were exchanged, but clear meaning was lost.
This is one of my all-time favorite cartoons about the mis-communication and mis-alignment that regularly occurs in business collaboration – it gets a lot of knowing laughs every time I use it in my Vendor/Project Management workshop:

Can you relate? Of course you can – along with every one of your peers! Miscommunication is very, very expensive.
This is why I offer my unique Clarity Workshops for business clients. In the first part of the workshop, we explore the way the human brain actually receives, processes, and remembers information, and why crafting clear messages is so crucial in every aspect of business.
Let me give you one preview – do you know about the brain’s RAS (Reticular Activating System), and how it filters out messages? If not, this one epiphany alone will transform how you view and practice communication. Clarity + simplicity = brain-friendly messaging. This and many other crucial Clarity principles of effective communication are also outlined in my book, Clarity Wins.
Then the workshops move to practical, hands-on application. Depending on the audience need, we apply the Clarity Formula to different disciplines in order to turn murky messaging into crystal clear communication:
- Internal team Communication/Collaboration
- External Communication/Collaboration (vendor/project management)
- Professional Networking
- Branding and Marketing
- Selling and Presenting
- Creating Referrals
Once you grasp how the human brain craves information, you’ll begin to apply my 7S Clarity Formula with great success. When you package your communication in clear Statements, Snippets, Stories, Symbols, Specifics, Surprises, and Stakes, you move from fogginess to 20/20 clarity.
Ambiguity and vagueness are your enemy – they pick your pocket of countless dollars in lost outside sales and internal inefficiencies. Contact me now and set up a free half-hour call to discuss how clearer communications can transform your team leadership!
